An Introduction to Intercultural Citizenship & Italian Culture
Participants learn how developing Intercultural Citizenship —that is, the rights and responsibilities relevant to improving human interactions across difference—is the key to achieving a world in which all individuals can lead safe, fulfilling, and purposeful lives in mindful harmony and cooperation with those of diverse backgrounds and experiences.
Seminar Objectives:
- Participants discover intercultural citizenship concepts and problems.
- Participants improve their self- and other-awareness by beginning to:
- reflect on their cultural identity and how that identity affects their worldviews, relationships, perspectives, experiences, and behaviors.
- recognize and respond to their own assumptions, biases, and behaviors.
- Participants effectively engage cross-culturally by beginning to:
- demonstrate empathy.
- suspend judgment and ask questions to gain understanding and perspective.
- Participants begin setting goals for their ongoing personal development
- Participants develop intercultural competence specific to Italy and Molise.
