An Introduction to Intercultural Citizenship & Italian Culture

Participants learn how developing Intercultural Citizenship—that is, the rights and responsibilities relevant to improving human interactions across difference—is the key to achieving a world in which all individuals can lead safe, fulfilling, and purposeful lives in mindful harmony and cooperation with those of diverse backgrounds and experiences.

Seminar Objectives:

  • Participants discover intercultural citizenship concepts and problems.
  • Participants improve their self- and other-awareness by beginning to:
    • reflect on their cultural identity and how that identity affects their worldviews, relationships, perspectives, experiences, and behaviors.
    • recognize and respond to their own assumptions, biases, and behaviors.
  • Participants effectively engage cross-culturally by beginning to:
    • demonstrate empathy.
    • suspend judgment and ask questions to gain understanding and perspective.
  • Participants begin setting goals for their ongoing personal development

  • Participants develop intercultural competence specific to Italy and Molise.
