CIC Workshops

Bridge the Difference, Make a Difference, and Thrive in a Globalized World

Join us, either virtually or in-person, for an essential 4-hour interactive seminar on how Intercultural Citizenship can help you thrive in a globalized world, taking the opportunity to realize your best self—your vision of who you really are at your core.

CIC workshops are perfect for local communities, workplaces of all kinds, educators, pre-departure study abroad students, or anyone else about to travel or wanting to find success in bridging across difference.

We would each like to be our best self as much of the time as possible. But it's tough, right? In the increasingly globalized—and polarized—world we have created, the two inevitable questions of our lifetime are how to share our planet, and, by extension, how to share a common dignity.

We don’t have all the answers, but the tiny ripples each of us makes by acting on an exploration of those complex questions can lead to giant waves of positive change. Indeed, we can all learn how not only to survive, but to thrive, through the development of our Global Intercultural Citizenship. Changing the world starts with each one of us, so grab a cup of coffee and discover how to bridge the difference to make a difference.

Participants will complete the Intercultural Development Inventory® (IDI®) and receive a group debrief (with the option to add a personal debrief), as well as an introduction to Personal Leadership and training in the Critical Moment Dialogue. Upon completion participants will also receive a digital certificate and a free downloadable copy of Difr Thrive: A Reflective Workbook for continuing their IC journey. The cost of the workshop is $800 (plus $20/participant to cover the cost of the IDI) for up to 25 participants.

Nicole M. (Arvada, CO) has this to say about the seminar:

I thoroughly enjoyed the workshop/seminar about Intercultural Citizenship. As a professional Registered Nurse (RN) in the Mental Health (MH) field, I found the information very useful in my practice. I have been an RN for 23 years, and a nurse manager for about 6 of those years. These last two years have been very difficult times within the world, our country, and healthcare because of the pandemic, political divisions, and racial tensions. In my professional role as a nurse manager I am responsible for the oversight and leadership of 54 nurses of racially and ethnically diverse backgrounds. I participate in (and encourage my nursing staff to engage in) Just Culture, EEO classes, as well as Diversity & Inclusion seminars within the organization.

Scott and Maegan Holcomb offered a relaxing and interactive process that provided me with necessary tools and resources to assist me in making and sustaining relationships with both patients and staff. The workbook that was provided in the class allows me to reflect through daily journaling, an activity that promotes learning, change, and growth by recording events and processing them at a later time when I am calm and able to process the thoughts and feelings behind the moment. In the MH field journaling is an activity that is widely encouraged to help our patients in their recovery journey. I am glad to have attended this workshop–I feel it is helpful for us to examine how we view others, and to start the regular practice of challenging our beliefs, to have open dialogue with others, and in general be more kind.
