The Center for Intercultural Citizenship

Leveraging Cultural Competence for Social Equity

The Center for Intercultural Citizenship, the domestic and virtual division of Molise Italian Studies, offers virtual courses and coaching surrounding Personal Development and Intercultural Citizenship, virtual internships through our partner, Kambia, one-off workshops on Thriving in a Globalized World, and Difr Live, a blog and podcast highlighting the power of the human story.

Whether you are looking to find your place in the human experience while gaining invaluable career training, craving a more purposeful education and a more intentional life, wanting to make a global impact and develop authentic connections without leaving your home community, or wondering how you can implement positive, effective, and sustainable change towards a more just and equitable society, The Center for Intercultural Citizenship empowers you to enhance your personal growth and leverage cultural competence for social equity.

"Intercultural competence is the ability to communicate and act appropriately and effectively across cultural differences."–Tara Harvey, True North Intercultural

With options for every learner and every schedule, our Difr Short Courses and Coaching are designed around the Intercultural Development Inventory® (IDI®) and AFS Global Competence Certificate program. In small and personal cohorts, you will develop cultural awareness and adaptability, more effectively engage cross-culturally, and begin setting goals for your ongoing personal development, all the while guided by expert and caring instructors who are qualified IDI® administrators, GCC facilitators, and extensively trained in facilitating intercultural competence.

To level up your skills and start implementing your new skills right away, consider combining Difr with a Virtual Internship!

“Given the grave global challenges facing humans in the 21st century, learning how to live together becomes an imperative. The growth of violent extremism, the mounting migration and displacement crises, and the rise of divisive political populism have underscored the need of expanding, consolidating, and intensifying dialogue among peoples with different cultural backgrounds and beliefs, contributing thus to counter hate speeches and to foster a culture of peace.Darla Deardorff, UNESCO Manual for Developing Intercultural Competencies: Story Circles, 2020
